💼 UX / Product Design & Research – Industrial Placement
We are offering an exciting opportunity for an undergraduate student to join our team for a 12-month industrial placement. As a UX / Product Design & Research Placement Student, you will be a key contributor to our software design solutions, gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced, innovative enterprise environment.
This role is ideal for students eager to apply academic knowledge of user research and UX/product design to real-world challenges. You’ll integrate with cross-functional teams, learn from senior professionals, and help champion a human-centered design approach across the business.
You will gain exposure to the full product development lifecycle—from foundational user research to the delivery of polished UI specifications.
📍 Placement Details
- Contract Duration: July 2026 – July 2027
- Location: Central London, United Kingdom
- Office Policy: Mandatory 3 days per week in the office
🎯 Responsibilities
- Collaborate with and learn from Senior Designers, Product Managers, and Engineers to generate creative design solutions
- Actively support all stages of the design process, including:
- User research (interviews, surveys)
- Usability testing
- Translate user needs and business requirements into design artifacts such as:
- Personas
- Journey maps
- Wireframes
- Interactive prototypes
- Present design concepts and research findings to internal teams and incorporate feedback
- Contribute to Zebra’s established design system, ensuring consistency and high-quality execution
🧠 Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in:
- Human-Computer Interaction (HCI)
- Interaction Design
- Product Design
- Human Factors
- Psychology
- or a related field
- Degree program must include a formal Year in Industry / Sandwich Year
- Must return to final year of university studies in September 2027
- Demonstrated interest and experience in both user research and UX/digital product design
- A portfolio showcasing design process, problem-solving skills, and research/design projects (academic or personal) is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Tools: Experience with design and research tools such as Figma, Miro, or similar
- Frameworks: Basic understanding of Agile / Scrum methodologies
- Design Skills: Foundational knowledge of interaction design, visual design principles, and design systems
- Problem-Solving: Strong conceptual thinking with an eagerness to learn and adapt
- Communication: Excellent collaboration and presentation skills, with confidence in sharing ideas
