Job Overview

Lifeway is seeking a motivated IT Security Intern to join our IT Security team. This internship provides hands-on exposure to cybersecurity operations and IT support, with a focus on contributing to a key project within our Cybersecurity Risk Framework.

The ideal candidate is passionate about technology, eager to learn, and has strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Internship Program Details

• Compensation: Competitive hourly pay; all required equipment provided
• Work Schedule: ~32 hours per week (core workdays: Tuesday–Thursday)
• Duration: June 1 – August 14, 2026 (11 weeks; full commitment required)
• Location: Remote (contiguous 48 U.S. states)
• In-Person Requirements:
  • Orientation: June 1–4, 2026 (Nashville)
  • Final Presentations: August 11–14, 2026 (Nashville)
  • Travel costs covered by Lifeway
• Eligibility:
  • Enrolled undergraduate or graduate students with at least 2 years of completed study
  • Recent graduates (December 2025 or May 2026) eligible
• Development Opportunities:
  • Weekly professional development sessions
  • Mentorship and leadership training

• Selection Timeline: Interviews begin ASAP; final selections by April 1

Responsibilities

• Live out Lifeway’s mission and values with a strong commitment to Kingdom work
• Assist with vulnerability scanning and reporting
• Monitor and analyze security alerts and system logs
• Participate in incident response and root cause analysis
• Support day-to-day IT operations, including hardware and software troubleshooting
• Document security policies and procedures
• Attend in-person Orientation and Final Presentation sessions in Nashville

Qualifications

Education

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field

Required Skills & Knowledge

• Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, etc.)
• Foundational knowledge of cybersecurity principles (firewalls, antivirus, vulnerabilities)
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Proactive mindset with a strong desire to learn
• High integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
• Active involvement in an evangelical Christian church
