Job Description
Role Overview
This role provides application support across production, pre-production, and test environments. You will investigate and resolve issues, develop fixes, support new releases, and perform general maintenance and administration. The role also includes system improvements, performance tuning, and automation.
This is a shift-based role (morning, day, night) with out-of-hours and on-call support during weekdays and weekends.
You will work closely with business users, other support teams, and development teams to improve system reliability, observability, and release efficiency, while acting as a technical SME for the supported applications and underlying technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Application & Incident Support
- Support LSEG Post Trade / LCH Market Data Services (MDS) applications under Shared Technical Services
- Resolve Incidents and Problems using ServiceNow
- Analyse root causes and implement appropriate resolutions
- Apply fixes following formal Change Management procedures
- Communicate status clearly to business and IT stakeholders
- Maintain accurate incident records and documentation
- Escalate issues according to incident management procedures and SLAs
Development & Improvements
- Design and implement bug fixes and minor enhancements
- Automate manual tasks and improve operational processes
- Enhance application monitoring and observability
- Implement fixes and updates in source control (GitHub / GitLab)
- Maintain technical documentation in Confluence
- Coordinate and support release activities
Collaboration & Standards
- Work according to ITIL standards and LSEG/LCH policies
- Partner with development teams on fixes and new releases
- Assist with project-related work as required
- Cross-train across multiple applications and services
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
- Strong UNIX / Linux system administration
- Scripting: Bash/Shell, Python, PowerShell
- Strong Oracle Database & SQL skills
- Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud Services
- Experience with IBM MQ
- Knowledge of network diagnostics and web servers
- Version control experience (Git)
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle
- ITIL v4 Foundation certification
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight SLAs
- Self-motivated with strong prioritization skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to Jenkins, CI/CD, Ansible, Terraform
- Experience with Control-M or similar orchestration tools
- Background in financial services or investment banking
- Experience supporting production systems
- Several years of hands-on experience with core technologies
